Mutale Nkonde, is a Visiting Policy fellow at the Oxford Internet Institute, CEO of AI for the People, and much sought after media commentator and speaker.AI for the People is a public sector Responsible AI Team that focuses on product policy.

Nkonde started advising Congress in 2019 when AI for the People led the advocacy for the introduction of the Algorithmic Accountability Act to the US House of Representatives. In 2023 she took part in one of Senator Schumer's AI Insight Panels. Then in 2024 she is one of civil society leaders helping the Congressional Black Caucus develop their AI Policy platform.

She has a BSc. (Hons) in Sociology from Leeds Metropolitan University, a Masters Degree in American Studies from Columbia University. In 2022 a paper she wrote on a right wing influence campaign was retracted after the network bullied journal staff. In response to this, Nkonde applied to Cambridge University to research Black right wing influence campaigns and will be pursuingĀ a PhD in Digital Humanities from October 2024, where she will be a Harding Distinguished Postgraduate Scholar
